Hello, my name is Carl Helgegren. I started doing Airbnb a few years ago when I was working as a freelance journalist in the Middle East. Airbnb was brand new back then. One day a banner showed up saying ”if you put your own listing up you get 10% off”. So I did. I took a few pictures of a house I had in my yard. And up on the web it went.
The house only had a room to sleep in. No toilet, no kitchen. The deal was that people came into my house to cook and use the bathroom. I never thought anybody would book it. One day a booking came in. And that was how my whole Airbnb/house rental service began.
In the evenings my sons and I would sit down and share dinners with people from all over the world. With time the business grew and I built a kitchen and a shower in the small house. Then I added two new houses and today I have the life I dreamed of: no office-work, taking good care of my guests and a lot of time for my family and dogs.
My goal is 100% guest satisfaction and after 950+ bookings on Airbnb with an overall average of 4,9 out of 5,0 I would say I’m close enough.
